Meet the ANTHC Cancer Program Staff and Symposium Organizers

Christine A. DeCourtney, MPA, is the Cancer Program Planning and Development Manager for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in Anchorage, Alaska. She is the PI for the CDC Tribal Cancer Control Grant and Program Director of a five-year National Cancer Institute palliative care education grant.
During her ten years working at the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation in the remote community of Dillingham, Alaska Ms. DeCourtney coordinated the development of the Helping Hands Program, an end-of-life program that provided Native elders with an option to remain in their home village as they neared the end of life. The program combined the best of modern medicine and traditional lifestyle.
Ms. DeCourtney is the lead author for the Traditional Food Guide for Alaska Native Cancer Survivors, funded by the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The guide provides nutritional, preparation and historical information about Alaska’s wild foods.
Ms. DeCourtney came to Alaska for 2 years -- 20 years ago.

Stacy Kelley, is a Partnership Program Coordinator for the ANTHC Cancer Program.
Ms. Kelley works with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium providing support and technical assistance for cancer program and evaluation activities. She is in the process of completing her MPH from the University of Alaska Anchorage and has a BS in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University.
Previous to her work in the ANTHC Cancer program she was the Alaska based National Cancer Institute Cancer Information Services Coordinator. Ms. Kelley also has several years experience in Tobacco Control. In that field, she provided technical assistance and program evaluation to tribal and non tribal health care centers in adapting systems change and implementing nicotine dependence treatment programs. She brings almost ten years of public health experience working with the Alaska Native population.
Ms. Kelley has been in Alaska for over 10 years and enjoys many outdoor activities Alaska has to offer.

Karen M. Morgan, BA, is a Program Coordinator with the Cancer Program at ANTHC. She has worked within the Alaska Tribal Health System for more than 18 years.
In March 2007, Ms. Morgan helped coordinate Camp Coho, a one-day grief camp for Alaska Native Children who have lost a loved one to cancer. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from Alaska Pacific University. She is one of the authors of the Traditional Food Guide for Alaska Native Cancer Survivors.
Ms. Morgan is Yupik Eskimo and was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska.

Judith Muller, MHA, MEcon, is the Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan Coordinator at ANTHC. Her background is in nonprofit management and for over 15 years she served as the Executive Director of an organization providing health education and medical screenings throughout Alaska.
Ms. Muller is a cancer survivor and appreciates the opportunity to work with others to reduce the burden of cancer in Alaska.
